Risk Manager Partner

Location: Central Maine Medical Center
Department: Risk Management
Schedule: Full-time
Shift: Day shift
Hours: 40hrs/wk, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Job Summary: The Risk Manager Partner reports to the
Vice President of Risk Management and serves as a resource and advisor
to Central Maine Healthcare Physicians and Directors regarding the development,
implementation of risk management activities. Additional responsibilities
include managing specific system-wide self-insured professional liability
incidents, and coordinating the treatment of potential or actual claims
and patient complaint issues with physicians, nurses, and administration.
Reviews, evaluates and recommends action on risk related matters pertaining
to patients, visitors, employees, students, physical plant and personal
property. Provides education and training to providers and staff on risk
management practices including, but not limited to: policies and procedures,
forms and documents relating to the process of informed consent, event
and incident reporting, diagnosis and testing, risk
identification reports, key elements of risk reduction, orientation to
legal issues and education regarding proper documentation practices that
present potential liability problems. Requirements for this position are
a BSN or master's degree; 3 to 5 years clinical background, or 5 years
experience in Risk Management; and demonstrated ability to develop programs.
Qualifications:
- Current RN licensure in State of Maine.
- 3 or more years of previous experience in risk management, quality
or comparable field.
- Previous experience in a law firm conducting case reviews, preparing
litigation/investigative summaries preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge. Word processing and database
management preferred.
- Understanding of the legal/court process.
