President's Newsletter - June 17, 2011

Dear CSHRM Members,

Over the past few months, the CSHRM Board had been very busy planning the 21st Annual
New England Regional Healthcare Risk Management Conference. Our efforts were rewarded
with the highest attendance in the history of the conference, 290 attendees. It was great to
see so many of you at the conference! Our sponsors were extremely generous – we can’t
THANK YOU enough for your support! We also had a record number of vendors. Your
program evaluations confirmed that we provided the right balance of educational offerings
and networking opportunities. Your comments and suggestions to enhance future
conferences have been passed along to the Massachusetts chapter, hosts of next year’s
conference.

The ASHRM annual educational conference is fast approaching. It is being held in Phoenix,
AZ from October 16- 19. The program agenda is posted on the ASHRM website
(www.ashrm.org) and it looks to be a great conference. CSHRM will be hosting a cocktail
reception on Monday October 17th from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm for CT risk managers attending
the conference. More to come…….

Again this year, CSHRM will be offering scholarships to the ASHRM conference. However,
new this year you may apply for either a full scholarship or partial scholarship. You will be
receiving information via e-mail shortly from Pat Toni. I hope you take advantage of this
opportunity to attend this conference and network with risk managers from around the
world.

CSHRM has been fortunate to have many risk managers that have been role models for
their colleagues. To recognize their leadership and expertise in the field of risk
management, we will be developing a “Risk Manager of the Year” award. If you would like
to participate on the committee that will be developing the qualifications and selection
criteria, please contact me.

Another initiative that the Board is embarking upon is the creation of a more interactive
website for our membership. If you haven’t been to our website in awhile, please take a
look and tell us what you like, and what you don’t like. Share your ideas to help us make
this a better communication vehicle that meets your needs.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday September 13th. Hope to see you there. Enjoy the
